SOLIDE

Kickoff: August 2017

Voice-controlled, contextual situation picture information for staffs and task forces for civil protection In large-scale damage situations, disasters and emergencies, emergency forces are faced with lots of information from different sources. In order to keep an up-to-date picture of the situation easily, this information has to be analyzed, processed and made available to specific users without distracting the emergency forces from their tasks. The four project partners PRO DV, Aristech, the University of Paderborn and the University of Bonn are working together tirelessly to complete this project within three years. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung – BMBF) is advancing reliable support for emergency response teams through the SOLIDE project.

SOLIDE’s results enhance applications for situation picture information by adding voice control and innovative data integration. Relevant information is made available promptly through spoken inputs and outputs, contributing to the efficient support of all emergency response teams. The SOLIDE project partners are developing a new approach to efficient access to an integrated situation picture. The focus lies on the use of voice-based control and innovative data integration techniques. For this purpose, all relevant data, such as sensor data, mission diaries or geographic data, are integrated into a situation picture. By means of specialized algorithms for filtering the relevant knowledge and suitable linking procedures, the data is made usable and available for retrieval. The developed user interfaces and algorithms for answering questions enable a linguistic, distraction-free retrieval of the information. The demonstration system is optimized and evaluated in several exercises with users.
